Imagine a lake that is 926 ft deep with no shallows and very small. A natural spring lake full of big pike that no body ever catches. What would you do in this situation? How deep do you think they go and how should you fish for them? I have this problem here in Michigan. Tiny lake super deep, no shallows. Only a fishing dock to fish from.

I've been doing tree hay for 2 years up here in canada. I've been thinning a strip of a mixed hardwood/softwood forest for silvo pasture (and just an overall healthier forest in general) taking some of the softwood for lumber and the hardwood for posts and firewood but put up leaves for tree hay, then in following years I come along and collect the treehay from the coppices/pollards. Our hay prices have dropped since last year. I'm seeing squares of alfalfa/grass and clover/grass hay for $5 (canadian) a bale and quality big round bales for $20-$30. They were double that last year. Despite hay prices being low I still put up tree hay for my dairy/meat goat herd simply for the nutrient diversity and nutritional benefit for the animals. That and our winters are very long up north. Not unusual to have snow for 6 months of the year up here.

Thanks for the video, we are normally back trolling for Coho and usually use a Banana, dodger and cut plug herring, better understand it now, will have to try more methods when you still show fish on the finder but the bite slows.

I see this all the time in pike fishing. Don't grab these delicate and heavy fish by the gills but use a net. But that is considered not "cool" and/or "professional" in the pike-fishing community.

You don't want to harm the fish yet you're using a boga grip? Those things should be outlawed. One hard shake and those metal prongs can go right thru the jaw of the fish. But you use them and market them to make money. That's just pathetic.

If you can find water deeper than 25ft in winter, with panfish or walleye anglers on it, youve found most of the big pike. In waters that deepn most of the catch and release fish die of barotrauma and die just under the ice. Those biggest pike in that part of the system key in on that. If youre 28ft of water with ppl all around, set a 10" or better dead bait about a foot under the ice on a tip up. Youll be shocked how many large fish you catch. In a basin, the underside of the ice is the dominant structure, and where the easier to get larger meals are. They know that. Too bad more folks cant be convinced on how well it works. If you try it onen i can promise youll try it again.

Man I have watched schools of walleye push balls of shiners up on a causeway with the wind. Literally pushing the bait right up to shore and rolling on them. Switch out to a floating jerk bait and money.
